Turf War

My current roll of good luck struck again last night. Whilst on the way to the Marsh Harrier to watch the England Game, George and I walked past a skip topped with a good helping of turf off cuts from the recently laid quadrant as you go into Owens Way. So on the way back (at about 10pm at night) we made 3 trips to the skip, loading the turf onto a large wooden board and laying it on my back garden. Result! It’s now tipping it down with rain, so I won’t even need to water it tonight.

England match was rubbish by the way 0-0 at half time against Andorra - Disgraceful. Won 3-0 in the end Stephen Gerard was, once more, the only player hungry to play.

Going to watch Ellie’s school play tonight, damn I forgot to bring a book.

Getting worked up about V

Ellie talked me into going to the V festival this year but at the line up is announced I am beginning to think it is better than the Reading Festival line up. I was going to go to Reading for the day (it would be rude not to) to see the Smashing Pupkins and Nine Inch Nails. But I may save my money and go and see The Streets, The Foo Fighters, The Killers, The Editors, Lilly Alen, Guillemots, Basement Jaxx, The Coral, Babyshambles, Jarvis, ocean Colour Scene, The Cribs and more bands still to be announced instead. The only additions I would like to see are Ash, The Pippets, Zinc and Mr. Scruff. That would be brilliant.

If I don't go to Reading I may be able to afford to go out to Greece instead of Ireland in the summer. I picked up a Thompson Greek Islands brochure from the Cowley centre at the weekend and I have talked myself into island hopping around Santorini, Ios and Naxos. At least we stand a better chance with the weather. I have never been to the Cyclades before either. Ellie got to go to Kefalonia last ear Now I can get to go to Santorini... Next year is Cuba and Mexico.

Working at OPP seems to be going well, settling in now and people seem to be genuinely surprised at the data I am producing, they have never done some of this analysis before and the findings are sometimes a bit shocking. I’m feeling quite important too as I am regularly being invited to some quite high powered meetings.

New Job

Started my new job at OPP on Monday and I've finally got chance to get my feet under the desk. The job is still quite analytical but I'm now the only person pulling and reporting on the data. Quite Daunting.

Saturday was our house warming party, Tom, Carrie, James and Ruth drove down from Wolverhampton and Laura and Ed came up from goring. Karis and Sue from next door came along also. It was a good night, everyone seemed to get on with each other really well.

Sunday we did the touristy thing in Oxford and showed the Yam Yams the sights. I was shocked to find out that the Oxford Sightseeing bus is £15 each. Extortionate.
I'm currently trying to convince Ellie to come to see Lagwagon with me at the Mean Fiddler in London, it is on the same day as Wolves vs. Palace (which I have just found out is £30 a ticket :( ). Bought my dad a ticket to the Southampton Home match for his birthday so I'm a bit broke now and waiting for pay day - Which is Friday and then again on the 31st.

Last Day with RM

Today is the last day (for a while at least) that I have to get up at 7am, that I have to travel down the A34 southbound, that I have to sit at my desk facing the corridor and conference room, that I have to run a bunch of pointless reports that no body looks at anyway and that I will go out to a pub near Didcot at lunch. Oh how I will miss it.

All moved into my house now and Kelly and Steve are coming to have a look around this evening before my leaving do. We are off to the Kazbar on Cowley Road and then to a few select pubs (karaoke warning).

Sunday is the 3rd Wolves albion match this season but fear not I have a quid on the albion to beat us so come on boys don't ruin tradition (I have never won a bet in a match that Wolves have played in). I also have a six way roll up on Sunderland,Man Utd, Walsall, Oxford Utd, Gretna and TNS to win at the weekend and I couldn't resist Liverpool at 6/1 to win the champions league and Valencia also at 7/1.

I have to whole week off next week, got a dentist appointment on Monday then I'm of to Bletchley Park and then to Ikea with my parents. Tuesday the dishwasher is being delivered, Wednesday I've got the builders coming to fix stuff and Thursday I'm going to go to Cambridge. Busy week.
Dammit Liverpool have been drawn against Valencia in the semi final of the champions league.
